Paul Hughes

Paul Hughes

Clubs played for: Chelsea, Stockport County (loan), Norwich City (loan), Crewe Alexandra (loan), Southampton, Luton Town (1994-2006)

Born: 1976

Birthplace: Hammersmith, London

Position: Midfielder

Biography: Scored an impressive solo effort on his debut against Derby County, but over the next three years injuries and Gianluca Vialli's policy of big name foreign signings like Roberto Di Matteo, Gus Poyet and Didier Deschamps hardly allowed him a look in. He was a member of the 1998 FA Cup and Cup Winners' Cup squads, however, was eventually released on a free transfer. Was then signed by Glenn Hoddle who was by then Southampton boss. Helped form a company that provides park teams with websites. Has also coached at Brunel University but is now reserve team coach at Hayes and Yeading.
