Imlach, Stewart I was brought up watching Bury from the early fifties (hopefully The Shakers will return to Gigg Lane soon). Have happy memories of Stewart Imlach starting on the left wing. Still have his autograph.

Imlach, Stewart I remember playing for Holywell Works team. I was only 14 but the then manager Jock Kerr knew Stuart and we had a friendly against Notts County youth team. This I believe was in 1967 or 1968. After the game I was then offered a schoolboy school boy contract with my brother Chris. We met Billy Grey the manager and Stewart came to my school and I signed a schoolboy contract in front of the school. That was the highlight of my life and I will never forget the Scottish accent of Stuart and the warm kindness he offered me and my brother.

Imlach, Stewart I started visiting Highfield Road Stadium to support Coventry City in 1961. The manager was Billy Frith, only a few months before J.H took over. I watched the team including Stewart Imlach on the left wing. He had played for Nottingham Forest in the 59 Cup Final and we also had Roy Dwight in our team on the opposite wing who also was in the 59 final and suffered a broken leg. Sadly I was there at home to Kings Lynn to witness a FA cup defeat which led to the new era. Many players were sold on to make way for the new JH Sky Blue squad. £30,000 was enough for JH to buy a new forwood line which apart from Bobby Laverick did the onfield business, Ronnie Rees came in for Laverick who lasted five matches only for the first team, happy days ahead, but not for Stewart Imlach and others.
