Biography: Irving joined United after leaving school and was a member of the FA Youth Cup losing side in 1993. He was offered professional terms but couldn't make the step up into the senior squad, and was sold to Nottingham Forest in 1995 for £75,000. Later also played for Macclesfield Town but gave up his professional footballing career in 1997 and is now a commercial airline pilot. Lives among the footballers in Alderley Edge, Cheshire.
