Jones, Gary I would watch Gary play for Everton. He was balanced and use 2 feet.
I remember behind the goal he crossed the ball to Latchford, who headed the ball in the top corner., only for Clemence to save.
Clemence said it was his best save.
Gary had all the skills. Truly an outstanding player. I learnt how to dribble watching Gary.

Jones, Gary Gary Jones lived in our street Ashbury Road in Huyton. Everyone knew early that he was an outstanding football player and that he would turn pro one day. We used to compare Gary with Peter Thompson who played for Liverpool and always felt that Gary was as good if not better. All the local lads used to play on a school field on a Sunday afternoon that was known as “The Dom’s”. Gary often played, this was around the end of the sixties.
I believe after finishing with football he managed a pub called the George which was in Lark Lane in Liverpool. Just to add there was another local lad from Huyton named Joey Duncan he was outstanding as a player, as good as Gary, but was never picked up by football scouts, and of course there was Everton player Peter Reid who was also from Huyton who went on to play for England and manage Man City for 3 years.
