Biography: Was an amateur at Old Trafford before leaving for Wolves but returned after a season because of home sickness. Working part-time at Simpsons Steelworks, he signed part- time forms taking a job as a cabinet maker. He made his only first team appearance in place of Roger Byrne as Left-back in November 1957 in a 3-0 home defeat to Portsmouth. He narrowly avoided being on the plane at Munich, being called up as a replacement for Geoff Bent who recovered from injury in time to travel. He spent two years on national service before being sold to Wrexham after being demobbed. He lives in Swinton, and worked for a chemical company for over 30 years after trying window cleaning, running a Salford fish and chip shop, and working for a textile company in Carrington.
