David Kemp

David Kemp

Clubs played for: Crystal Palace, Portsmouth, Carlisle United, Plymouth Argyle, Gillingham, Brentford. (1974-1981)

Born: 1953

Birthplace: Harrow, London

Position: Forward

Biography: Became a goalscoring hero following his arrival from Crystal Palace in a deal that took George Graham to Selhurst Park. A former Chelsea youngster, Kemp was top scorer in both 1976/7 and 1977/8 and it was a sad day when he moved to Carlisle United in March 1978. Salt was rubbed in the wounds when he returned to Fratton Park shortly afterwards and scored for his new club in a 3-3 draw. Frank Burrows did try to sign him during his tenure but it was not until he had retired from playing that the popular striker's name was again added to the payroll, this time as a member of the coaching staff. Has since managed Norwegian side Norrkoping, Plymouth Argyle and Oxford United but has been Assistant Manager to his former Pompey boss, Tony Pulis, at Stoke City since July 2010.
