Ray Lewington

Clubs played for: Chelsea, Vancouver Whitecaps, Wimbledon, Fulham, Sheffield United, Fulham (1975-1990)

Born: 1956

Birthplace: Lambeth

Position: Midfielder

Biography: A ball winning midfielder who allowed the more skillful Ray Wilkins and Gary Stanley to flourish. Was an ever present in the 1976-77 Division Two promotion winning side, but he lacked the pace and skill to become a top class top flight player. When Danny Blanchflower replaced Ken Shellito, his days at the club were numbered and he was allowed to leave in 1979 to try his luck in Canada. Has since enjoyed a long career in coaching and management. He has managed Fulham, Brentford, Watford and has been back at Fulham since 2007.
