Oscar Linkson

Birthplace: New Barnet, Hertfordshire

Position: Full-back

Biography: A full back who was spotted on a continental tour while he was playing for an amateur side the Pirates, he was never considered to be a first team regular until his last two seasons with the club. He was still allowed to leave to play for Shelbourne in Ireland. One of the United players to lose his life in the Great War, he was killed in action in France in August 1916, while serving in the Footballers Battalion. He encountered the wrath of the authorities before going to the Western Front by absenting himself to play for QPR. He was initially reported missing and no trace of his body has ever been found.
