Damian Matthew

Clubs played for: Chelsea, Luton Town, Crystal Palace, Bristol Rovers, Burnley, Northampton Town (1989-1999)

Born: 1971

Birthplace: Islington, London

Position: Midfielder

Biography: A creative midfielder who spent six years at Stamford Bridge. Only played 27 games, despite forming a decent partnership with Graham Stuart. Even the appointment of a cultured player like Glenn Hoddle couldn't kick start his career and he was forced to seek a fresh start at Crystal Palace. After a back injury ended his career, he returned to the Bridge and spent six years as youth development officer before taking on a similar role at Charlton Athletic, where he is now also looking after the reserves.
