Birthplace: Greenock, Renfrewshire, Scotland

Position: Half-back

Biography: Was Scotland born but he still captained the USA to their shock 1950 World Cup win over England in Belo Horizonte. He joined United after his World Cup heroics and played in the opening two games of the 1950-1951 season, making his debut against Fulham in August 1950. Following a defeat to Liverpool, he lost his place to Don Gibson. Despite being on United's books for another three years, he was never given another chance in the first team squad. Left United to become the player manager of Waterford United in Ireland. He later ran a soccer school, died in Eastbourne in 1989, aged 64.
