Biography: Moved into management with Sheffield Wednesday and Aston Villa. But name his name at Manchester City, striking up a very successful partnership with Malcolm Allison and bringing a decade of glory to Maine Road. Became general manager at Coventry and in 1977 took temporary control of the England team. He resigned as a Coventry director in 1981 after nine years on the board and died in 1990 aged 76.
