Micklewhite, Gary Yep I played in that Villa Court side with George Cobby manager. Darrell Cousins, Kevin Smith, Mickey Connolly, Phil Coleman, Paul Kinkay, Dave Memet, Gary Micklewhite, Steve Baker.

Gary Micklewhite was always greedy with the ball. Lucky if you got it back once you passed it to him but a bad boy player along with Dave Memet to stand out players.

Micklewhite, Gary When I was a kid, our family lived upstairs from Gary and his brother Dean (I think) in Chatham Street just off the New Kent Rd. He once gave me a slap after I hit his brother. LOL!

Micklewhite, Gary I met Gary in the eighties when he bought an oil painting from me. I ran a business selling oil paintings and frames at that time and Gary was one of my customers. I visited his house to make sure the size and subject of the painting was to his and his wife’s taste. He was happy with his purchase which suited his new house just outside Derby in Darley Abbey. He gave me a referral to Eric Steele who was the goalkeeper at Derby County at the same time. I visited Eric in his home in Hazlewood Duffield Derby and Eric also purchased some paintings from me. I always Remember Eric’s Fiat X19 sports car resplendent in its red and black livery.

Micklewhite, Gary Played with Gary as a youth when we played in the same successful Villacourt Rovers under 12/13’s side. He was an outstanding midfielder who I always thought would make it as a professional footballer. We were an excellent youth team with several notoriable others in our team that went on to make successful professional careers including Dave Memhet (football - played for Millwall and Gillingham) and Simon Hinks (Cricket - went on to play first class cricket for Kent). Not sure if Gary remembers any of those times but we had joint Managers George Cobby and Don Smith and under their guidance achieved much success including league and cup double winning season and played one of our Cup Finals vs Swanley at the Valley - Charlton Atheltics ground. Memorable times!!
