Clubs played for: Coventry City, Birmingham City, Chelsea, Watford (1941-1958)
Born: 1922
Birthplace: Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia
Position: Wing-half
Biography: Strangely, this 'Mitchell' was born in Australia but moved to England as a teenager (see David, above). He developed into a classy wing half, but saw his career destroyed like so many good players by the Second World War. Spent three seasons in the Blues' first team after signing from Birmingham City, looked set for a long stay at the club until he lost his place to Bill Dickson and was sold for £7,000 to Watford. Played county cricket with Warwickshire, was groundsman and secretary for Knowle and Dorridge cricket club and by day his job was coaching and keeping the grounds at Kynoch's which he did for many years. Died in Myton Hamlet in April 1984 aged 61.
