Biography: A stylish Dutch international who graced Old Trafford after making his mark at Ipswich Town, where he had been part of the 1981 UEFA cup winning team. He joined United in 1982 after his contract at Portman Road had run out. He helped United win the FA Cup in his first season at the club, scoring the fourth goal in the 4-0 victory over Brighton. United were in the running for the title in his second season until he was injured in March and he was while sidelined, their challenge faded dramatically. The injuries started to trouble him and he was never able to hold down a regular place in the side again. Now lives back in Holland, where he worked for Volendam coaching youngsters, and is now working for one of his former clubs, Ajax of Amsterdam, coaching a youth team.
