Biography: Experienced defender from Teeside with 4 Scottish Caps , Murty established himself at York City before becoming a legend at Reading making 306 league appearances for them. Released by Reading in 2009 He joined Southampton on a one year contract following a successful two week trial but injuries restricted him to just six league appearances, and he retired at the end of the season. He has most recently appeared in the BBCźs Monday night soccer show –Late Kick Off” where he comments on the regions teams and imparts some of his experience in a slot entitled –The Knowledge” alongside Bournemouths Steve Fletcher. His son Steven was a trainee with Stockport County
