Birthplace: St Helens, Merseyside

Position: Right-back

Biography: A dual schoolboy international at both rugby and football, he made his first team debut in the last game of the 1970-1971 season, a 4-3 victory over Manchester City under Frank O'Farrell. He was first the Irish manager's first choice right back but when Tommy Docherty gave his place to Tony Young, he was sent out on loan to Blackpool before being sold to Southport. He went into coaching, and returned to United to coach at their Academy until shortly before his death in May 2006, aged 53.
