Oakes, Alan I had the honour of meeting Alan Oakes early in his career. I was immediately impressed by his modesty and manners. I later found out that he also belonged to Manchester City royalty of family of the Pardoes and Doyles, where the tradition of playing for City continues with Tommy Doyle.

Oakes, Alan Why oh why have they not had a statue made of this absolute Man City legend Alan Oakes? It beats me when this guy played 680 league and cup first team games for the club and holds the clear record for the most appearances in a Man City shirt in over 17 years of loyal service but absolutely no mention of him at all. This would only be acceptable if Alan himself has requested no such recognition or acclaim. Alan also has the distinction of being number 7th in the list of players to have played the most games in the history of the football league. After City, he even played 211 matches for Chester City, what a man. Well done Alan from me at least.

Come on City recognise this hero now, why wouldn’t you?

Oakes, Alan I went to see Alan Oakes when I was about 8 with my grandparents, my cousin and auntie and uncle. I remember being shy, but he showed us all his medals and cups, and had a kick around with my cousin, I also remember the hens in the back yard x

Oakes, Alan Alan Oakes is a childhood friend of my Grandad and he took me to meet him at his mother's house when I was around 12 years old and obsessed with City. He signed my shirt and was an absolute gent. That shirt I’ll cherish forever

Oakes, Alan I went onto the pitch in 1968 when Alan took the job on to do the lap of honour of parading the shield. I touched the shield and Alan's shoulder. Would give all for a picture. I was 12 at the time.
