Birthplace: Glasgow, Scotland

Position: Outside-left

Biography: A press photographer by profession, he had played in the same RAF team during the War as Stanley Matthews. However, his stay at Chelsea was to be a short one, he left just seven months after moving from Celtic for £10,000 in November 1946. By the end of the season he had returned to Parkhead. Managed Watford for a spell before spending six years at Arsenal as a scout and then 'A' team coach. He was also in charge of Hertfordshire FA's youth coaching scheme before taking over the management of a snooker hall. There he became a professional coach and referee. Now lives in retirement in London.
