Plenderleith, Jackie I spent sometime in the Army from 1956 to 1959 as a physical training instructor.

I met Jackie when I transferred from Yeovil to Farnborough in my last six months in the Army. I was transferred not to play football but to play basketball in the Army finals.

One of my best mates Roy Parker worked in the gymnasium with me along with Jackie.

I believe Jackie was playing for Hibs in those days.

Another mate of mine at Farnborough was Alan Gilzean who was a company clerk and I believe he was playing for Dundee in those days but made his name really when he played for Tottenham alongside Jimmy Greaves. The two of them were fondly named “The G men".
