Biography: Robertson couldn't have come into the team at a worse time, 14 successive defeats and four points adrift at the foot of the table the drop was a near certainly. He produced an inspired display on his debut at Liverpool, this combined with a four match unbeaten run saw the club avoid relegation by the narrowest of margins. It also secured him his place, which he kept for the next season six seasons including the 1955 Championship winning campaign. He lost his spot to Reg Matthews and returned to the reserves. Sadly passed away in Tadworth in 1973 aged only 45. He was the owner of a pub when he suffered a fatal heart attack.
