Rostron, Wilf I remember Wilf from his Arsenal days, when he lived at Mrs Cranstons with Liam Brady. I occasionally had a pint with him in the Queens Head. Footballers spent more time in the pubs in the 70s. I knew Liam better than Wilf, going to Benidorm with him. It wasn’t so glamorous as a footballer then.

Rostron, Wilf Hello Wilf , just watched you on The big match re-visited Arsenal v Burnley . Don't think you'll remember me but you ended my slim chances of making it in the game. It must have been around 1970ish we were having trials for Sunderland boys, you played left wing those days and I had obviously heard of you as a great player. I played for St Aidans and we had a pretty good team. What happened was I always played left back - like you could hardly kick with my right foot. What happened day of trials there was a mix up and I had to play right back first time in my life and you skinned me. No trials any more but fine for you. Thanks. Davey Hedley from Rickleton Washington.

Rostron, Wilf I went to the same school as Wilf Rostron though he's 9 years older than me. My Dad taught at the same school and got me Wilf's autograph.

Rostron, Wilf I saw his league debut for Arsenal against Newcastle at Highbury. He was terrific that night and I think Arsenal won 3-0. Everybody thought we’d unearthed a player for the next 10 years. Unfortunately it didn’t work out at Highbury for him, but it was pleasing to watch him have a fine career elsewhere.
