Biography: Arthur made his reputation as the most prolific goalscorer of all time, scoring a record 433 goals in a career stretching from 1946 to 1965. Managed Shrewsbury, Sheffield United and Southend. Became a district manager for Vernons Pools and lived in Shrewsbury until his death in December 2002.

Rowley, Arthur I allways remember Arthur Rowley playing for shrewsbury against notts county the team I follow he dident score but he was good to watch one of the best. when he beat mcgrory goal scoring record I sent him a letter to which he replyed. I still have the letter. I also saw him at southend when he was manager.
