Biography: On behalf of Bishop Auckland Football Club I am seeking information of the present whereabouts of William (Billy) Russell who played and scored in the 1957 Amateur Cup Final, playing for Bishop Auckland against Wycombe Wanderers. Shortly afterwards, he signed for Sheffield United and was at that club until 1963, when he was transferred to Bolton Wanderers. I appreciate that as Billy was born in 1935 he may no longer be with us, but any information that you could give me would be gratefully received.....I am hoping that you have an ex-players’ association and that someone may remember him. I understand that although Billy eventually became a lecturer of languages at a college in Altrincham, he preferred to continue living in the Sheffield area. His name always crops up at the ex-Bishop Auckland players’ reunion but so far we have been unable to trace him to extend an invitation. Once again, I extend my thanks in anticipation of any help that you can give me. Alan Adamthwaite Mobile: 07933786724
