Biography: Died on 25th September 1981, just days after his 68th birthday. Capped five times by Scotland, Bill was appointed manager of Liverpool in 1959 after a spell with Huddersfield, Went on to become one of the greatest managers of all time will always be remembered as part of Liverpool folklore and the Shankly Gates erected at Anfield will serve as a permanent memorial.
