Position: Centre-forward

Biography: A centre forward from Derry Northern Ireland with one international cap, Shields was Ted Bates first signing as Southampton manager in 1958. He scored eleven goals in his first twelve games for Saints, he missed the following season due to a broken leg he managed just three more matches before dropping into Non League Football. He finished his playing days at South Shields combining football with his original trade of joinery
