Jack Silcock

Position: Left-back

Biography: Spotted by the then United manager, John Robson, after he went to watch another player and he impressed enough to be asked to join United's amateur ranks, before signing professional. Over the next 15 seasons, he was a first team regular forming a dominant partnership with Charlie Moor. Despite playing almost 450 games at Old Trafford, he didn't win any medals but did at least play three times for England before leaving for Oldham Athletic. Worked as a miner before joining United, he later became a licensee in the Manchester area. He died in June 1966, aged 68.
