Clubs played for: Southampton, Chelsea (1951-1961)
Born: 1933
Birthplace: Southampton
Position: Right-back
Biography: Ted Drake had to persuade Sillett's mother to let him make the £13,000 move from Southampton in the summer 1953 and he had to take his brother John as part of the deal. A committed and determined player, he lacked pace but was a member of the 1955 Championship winning side sharing the right back spot with John Harris. His penalty against Wolves virtually wrapped up the title. He was a regular in the side until his career was ended at the age of 30 by a broken leg. Earned more money with Guildford City than he did at Stamford Bridge despite being an England international. Managed a number of clubs around Kent and Sussex and scouted for his brother John when he was manager of Hereford and Coventry. An arthritic knee kept him housebound at his Ashford, home until his death in March 1998, aged 65 after a battle with cancer.
