Biography: Normally a defender he played in the Football League between 1959-77. Apart from 5 games with Port Vale at the end of his playing career he played all his career at Stoke City where he holds the record for most league appearances 507 whilst also having the record for overall appearances 592. Known as Mr Dependable he missed only eleven matches in seven seasons from September 1960. He won a second division Championship medal in 1963 and a League Cup runners up medal in 1964. He played briefly for Seattle Sounders in 1976 and finished his playing career at non league Leek Town. He went on to run the Hare & Hounds pub in Glossop and then Noahs Ark in Newcastle Under Lyme. He then worked as a porter at Staffordshire University. He still attends most of Stoke Citys home games. He lives in retirement in Clayton, Newcastle Under Lyme.

Skeels, Eric I worked with Eric at Staffordshire University. He was a gentleman and a good laugh it was a pleasure to have him as a colleague. He made the shift go so quickly

Skeels, Eric Still trying to contact Eric we went to school together and played football together and was a mate until he signed for Stoke also his brother Albert was a good player,would love to hear from Eric for old time sake.

Skeels, Eric I was a regular in the 'Hare and Hounds' when he was landlord and went on a few boys trip to Benidorm with him. It's true about him being tight and waking up in the middle of the night to see if he'd lost any sleep. Good guy though.

Skeels, Eric I went school with Eric and was a close mate until i emigrated to Australia in 1966,Eric had just been signed by Stoke after his off season tour of Gibralter,unfortunatly i have lost contact with him and would be happy to contact him in someway.
