Biography: Smith joined the club in a joint deal with Burnley team-mate Colin Blant and made the right back spot his own for the the next two years. A cartilage injury ended his Pompey playing days and he spent 1973-74 in the United States with Dallas Tornado before ending his career with a season at Halifax Town. Was employed as a community worker by the Borough Council in Burnley, having previously had a milkround, restaurant and then a newsagents.
