Biography: Speed retired at the end of the 09-10 season whilst a player-coach with Sheffield United. He agreed to continue as a coach for the club. Speed was appointed manager of Sheffield United in 2010, but he left the club after a few months in December 2010 to manage the Wales national team. Speed died on 27 November 2011, apparently by suicide, aged 42
