Summerhill, Phil Played with Phil for Aston Boys and Stanley Star. He once scored straight from the kick-off (I know as it was me that passed to him) at Cofton Park. We were both big Bluenoses and went as often as we could. Lost touch when he moved from Sidcup Road, Kingstanding so he could be nearer the Blues training ground in Damson Lane. Lovely guy, big smile and a lovely sister from memory.

Summerhill, Phil I remember Phil playing for the Blues late 70s/early 80s. I don’t remember him being a great ball player but what he could do was score goals, any where and any how! I remember one game, I think it was against Norwich. It was a very windy day. I was in the Tilton. Phil had the ball on the left hand corner of the penalty box, he was challenged by a Norwich defender, there was a coming together. Somehow Phil kicked the ball and it shot straight upwards high into the air. The wind caught it and it sailed over the goalkeeper’s head into the net!

Summerhill, Phil Phil - top man and his wife Cheryl. We enjoyed a couple of Majorca holidays with them. Would say that he was a better footballer than he realised and certainly better than most strikers I see today. Stay good Phil.

Summerhill, Phil Always believed he was underated. Because of the "named" players he played with but you dont become leading scorer for 3 seasons unless you have top ability.

Summerhill, Phil Long time ago ! I played in the junior school team at Shirestone Road Junior school along with David Smith ,Jim Stoddard amongst others . As a Blue Nose but living away from Birmingham I followed Phil’s career with great interest . We met once when we were about 19 / 20 and Phil gave me an interesting insight into the life of a professional footballer . He was a top player ! Best wishes Phil.

Summerhill, Phil I have just thought I never said in my letter below re Phil and me getting locked in Highgate United's ground at 1am in the morning - Phil did sign for me at Redditch Utd, along with another great Blues player Alan Campbell.

Summerhill, Phil I trained under Phill when I played for acocks green lions top bloke this going back to the early 80s though

Summerhill, Phil I started following "The Blues" in mid 60's but the most memorable team was early 70's through to the mid-70's when Trevor Francis was introduced to the first team - what a player he became. I have a photo of the 1972 - 73 squad which includes R. Hynd, Ray Martin, P. Cooper, D. Robinson, A. Campbell, G. Pendry, M. Page, Bob Barton, R. Latchford, T. Francis, P. Summerhill, K. Burns. I emigrated the UK in 1975 and am currently living in California, USA. I have continued to follow the "Blues" and am saddened to see they are battling to avoid relegation to the 3rd division. They deserve better than this, the owners need to spend money on some quality players.
