Sydenham, John I Remember John when he lived in West End Rd Bitterne Southampton and was playing for Saints. We were kids having a kick about in the park opposite and John would come over and have a game with us. Lovely Guy!! Couldn’t happen these Days.

Sydenham, John I remember my earliest days at the old Dell in Southampton where the fans and especially myself were mesmerized by Sydy's skill on the wing as Saints outside left and being able to outdo most fullbacks who would try their best to stop him usually in vain, he just was so fast one blink and he was gone and it was up to the bye line and over came his cross of the ball into the penalty area for our centre forwards to head home, it was so exciting back then to watch his great talent and not forgetting his co-partner in wing play Terry Paine who also was such a great player and wing wizard between them could stitch up most visiting sides in their day God bless them.

Sydenham, John I met John when he quit football and came to work with me at Hendy Lennox selling cars in Chandlers Ford. A top guy and we had some fun together. I remember he used to flick a coin in the air, catch it on his foot and then flip it into the top pocket of his suit jacket. (Not during working hours of course!) I still keep in touch with Christmas cards and the odd phone call.
Would love to meet up again if we are ever in Southampton at the same time.

Sydenham, John Sydy, the quickest winger I ever saw. Saw him go over the wall at the Milton Road end a few times!

Sydenham, John I remember watching Sydy at The Dell in the early 60's against Swansea City. This was pre his army call up when he possessed the most amazing skill with the ball.He turned the full back inside out on many occasions and stood foot on ball hands on hips laughing at the player.Mel Nurse the Welsh international Centre-half for Swansea shouted 'Get stuck into him' the fullback replied 'You want to blxxxx well try.I remember roaring with laughter and enjoying the innate skill possessed by Sydenham at the time. After army duties he was never quite the same player but still a very good player. Thanks for the memories John.

Sydenham, John Would like to make contact after many years, John was my insurance agent also a fellow player
