James Symon

James Symon

Birthplace: Errol, Perthshire

Position: Wing-half

Biography: Scotsman who ventured south of the border to spend three seasons at Fratton Park in the 1930's. He won one Scotland cap but went on to achieve success as a manager. He won the Scottish League Cup with his first club East Fife and was in charge when Preston North End reached the FA Cup final in 1953. As manager of his former club Rangers, he won six league championships and took them into Europe for the first time. Died in April 1985 (aged 73)
