Biography: Geordie boy Tait served his league apprenticeship with Oxford, Carlisle and Hull but was still only 23 when Frank Burrows paid Hull City £100,000 for his signature. During the next seven years he gave sterling service but shifted position from attacker to midfield and finally to central defence. His battling performances won the crowd over and earned him a well deserved place in the club's Hall of Fame. Apart from a time with Reading, 'Yosser' has spent the years since in the north-east. He has had spells in management at Hartlepool and Darlington where he was also youth development officer. In May 2009, he was appointed manager of Blyth Spartans for a second time.

Tait, Mick One of my all time favourite Pompey players, you knew what you were getting with Yosser. A shame we never got to see him play in the old Division 1

Tait, Mick Mick Tait joined Portsmouth as a striker, but did not score the amount of goals that the manager and fans had hoped for. He got a hard time from the supporters to start with, but then he was moved into midfield where his hard work and honesty won everyone over and he became the fan's favourite. He also turned in solid performances playing in defence, and also played in goal in a game where the keeper was injured. Mention the name Mick Tait to any Portsmouth fan and they will only have good things to say about him.
