Biography: The first emergency signing by Jimmy Murphy when he had to rebuild following the Munich air crash, and he proved to be a superb £8,000 signing. In his ten months at the club. He helped bring some stability and the club reached a FA Cup Final. In December 1958, he was sold to Sunderland for £7,000 after losing his place to United's then record signing Albert Quixall. He emigrated to New Zealand where he coached New Brighton in Christchurch, before returning to England to work for Vauxhall Motors in Hooten. Was also adviser to Heswell FC in the Cheshire League. He died on Birkenhead in April 1985, aged 59.
