Matt Taylor

Matt Taylor

Clubs played for: Luton Town, Portsmouth, Bolton Wanderers , West Ham United, Burnley, Northampton Town , Swindon Town (1999-Still Playing)

Born: 1981

Birthplace: Oxford

Position: Midfielder

Biography: Matty's career started at Luton Town, having being rejected by home town club Oxford United, because they thought he was too fat. Pompey snapped him up in July 2002 for £750,000. The fee had been set by tribunal and left Luton boss Joe Kinnear seething. He was quoted as saying "at least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask". Taylor provided a much needed spark as an attacking left sided midfielder but also had the knack of scoring sensational long range goals. The arrival of Niko Kranjkar in the 2007-08 season meant that Taylor was no longer assured a place in the starting XI and was sold to Bolton Wanderers in January 2008 for a fee believed to be in the region of £4 million.

Taylor, Matt Was a star player at Bolton Wanderers. Sad day when he left. Good luck in the future.
