WELTON, Pat Pat was PE master at Forest School in my time there in the 1960s. He lived in a house that backed on to the gym. He taught us all sorts of aspects of PE but never football - that was in the hands of the ex-Blues on the teaching staff. When my mother told me about his success with the England under-18s, I managed to persuade him to teach us some soccer skills in our last year. It was incredibly instructive. He had a pitch with squares marked on it and his whole emphasis was on swift control, few touches and moving to where you wanted the ball played to. He was a terrific coach - Jonathan Edmunds (Forest School 1960-7).

WELTON, Pat I didn't know of Pat until he became the land lord of the Old Friends pub in Greenwich. I was part of the football team that played for that pub that Pat also coached. I have fond memories of him and that time. RIP Pat, and thanks.
