Biography: Whelan began coaching with Dunfermline Athletic in 2007 after he was released from his playin contract with the club, as well as this he spent time training in his coaching badges whilst with Athletic. In 2008 he joined Harrogate Town as a player, before briefly switching back to full time playing with Darlington during the 09/10 season, however his time was cut short by injury.
