White, Winston When I was 15 years old my granddad arranged for me to have a weeks pre season training at Edgar Street (he was friends with the chairman Peter Hill I think his name was). On the first morning one of the players asked where I was from. “Leicester” I said & Winston immediately took me under his wing. I always remember him coming into training singing the Hot Chocolate lyrics “you don’t remember me do you”. My other memories are of Stewart Phillips spending every day in the Physio room reading the papers, and I remember going to an army (SAS?) base & playing basketball with boxing gloves on. One of the army blokes tore his shirt off & joined in. The Hereford players gave the manager the ball at one point & then proceeded to pummel him!
