Whittle, Alan Remember Alan in Sefton Park school when playing soccer in playground and everyone was struggling to tackle him. He had good skills then! Circa 1966.

Whittle, Alan Quite simply, as a Palace fan, I was seven when Alan scored the fifth against Man Utd. So memories are blurred but not with Alan that iconic white hair - I will always remember. All the best Alan.

Whittle, Alan Well, when Alan Whittle came to Palace to link up with Don Rogers, what a great partnership that was. I remember when Palace beat Man united 5-0 and their team had Booby Charlton, Denis Law, Stepney, Dunne, but I am not sure if Best played.
But Two great goals from Paddy Mulligan and two for Don Rogers with Alan scoring the best goal of the game 5-0 fantastic. He was great in the short time he was at Palace.

Whittle, Alan Had many a good night in the old Glaziers club (Palace) in the early 70s with my dad Charlie and Alan. Great player and Scouser!

Whittle, Alan I was working in Tehran and recognised Alan one day in a hotel and introduced myself. We became friends and I used to go to all the Persepolis home games and he just missed out on winning the league title (70,000 fans In the stadium!) when they drew their last game 0-0 with Pas. He was a great guy and we had some happy times socially too.

Whittle, Alan In 1981, whilst visiting Australia, I decided to attend a particular football match in Sydney as I am a Crystal Palace supporter and I knew that our former player, Alan, was likely to play in the match for Preston Makedonia v Sydney St George Budapest. I left Manly on the North Shore at 12.15pm, telling my wife that I would be back by around 7.00pm. I was at the ground early and was lucky enough to get to say hello to Alan who invited me to stay behind after the match for a drink in the social club as he was keen to get news about Palace. The match was a 1-1 draw but the two sets of supporters were slanging each other off and waving national flags that I had never seen before and no longer exist. After three or four drinks, I asked Alan what time he needed to leave and he said that there was plenty of time and carried on chatting. Eventually, around 10.00pm, he got up, wished me and Palace well, and left. I then had to make my way (unsteadily) back to Circular Quay only to find that I had missed the last ferry. I managed to find a taxidriver willing to drive me back to Manly at great expense and I reached Manly at 1.45am. My wife was not best pleased that I had been gone over 13 hours but I really did enjoy talking to Alan.
