Position: Forward

Biography: Worthington, who is one of the great football mavericks was part of the United squad which toured Australia after the 1983-1984 season making appearances against Australia, Nottingham Forest and Juventus. He played another game for the club in May 1985 in Peter Foley's testimonial against Oxford United. After a spell as player manager of Tranmere Rovers, he has become an in demand after dinner speaker.

Worthington, Frank My footballing hero was Frank.

Went to an open day at Jack Berry’s racing stable and saw Frank in the garden of Jack's house, I shouted ‘ Hiya Frank’ and he totally blanked me and left me gutted!

He wasn’t such a hero of mine after that. A very sad loss though.
