Birthplace: South Elmsall

Position: Outside-forward

Biography: A coal miner before becoming a professional footballer. He scored on his home debut against Preston but lost a large chunk of his career at the club due to the Second World War. He left United for Bolton just after league football resumed after the war. His playing career ended and he coached at a school in the South, before returning north to become the trainer of Accrington Stanley. He continued to live a stone's throw away from Peel Park until his death in August 1980, aged 67.
